What Movitera Link does in the background
Once connected, Movitera Link runs in the tray and sends the inventory on its own. This page explains what it does, how often, and how to interrupt it.
Automatic uploads
- Every 5 minutes, it sends a short signal confirming the computer is online.
- Every 6 hours, it sends the full hardware inventory.
- Every 6 hours, it checks for a new version of the app.
Uploads happen with no action from you. If collection is paused or the computer is offline, the app waits and tries again on the next cycle.
In the system tray
Movitera Link lives in the tray (menu bar on macOS). Click the icon to see the status and quick actions.

/images/docs/desktop/tray-menu.png| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
Open | Opens the app window. |
Sync now | Sends the inventory immediately, without waiting for the next cycle. |
Pause collection | Stops the automatic uploads until you resume. |
Quit | Quits the app for good. |
Closing isn't quitting
Closing the window hides the app in the tray — it keeps running and sending the inventory. To quit for real, use Quit in the tray menu.
