Protect your account with 2FA
Register a second factor — a passkey or an authenticator app — and store your recovery codes. Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires, beyond the password, a confirmation from you on every sign-in, and unlocks Movitera®'s sensitive actions.
Where to register
Registration happens on the Register second factor page. You reach it through the "Proteja sua conta com a autenticação de dois fatores." (protect your account with two-factor authentication) banner — button Configurar agora (set up now) — or through the "Two-factor authentication" card in Settings → Profile. When the device has Touch ID, Face ID, or Windows Hello, the page shows the Passkey (with the "Recommended" badge) and Authenticator app tabs; on devices without support, only the authenticator app panel appears.
Option 1 — add a passkey
- 1
Open the `Passkey` tab.
The passkey uses the device's own authenticator — you confirm sign-in with biometrics or a PIN, without typing a code.
- 2
Name it in `Device name` and click `Add passkey`.
Use a name that identifies the device, like "MacBook Touch ID". Confirm the system prompt.
result"Second factor activated successfully."
Option 2 — set up an authenticator app
- 1
Open the `Authenticator app` tab.
The authenticator app generates 6-digit codes that change every 30 seconds — any app of that kind works.
- 2
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
The QR code appears on the page itself. Add the account in the app.
- 3
Enter the 6-digit code the app generates and click `Activate`.
result"Second factor activated successfully."
Store your recovery codes
On the first activation, the Save your recovery codes dialog opens and won't close until you confirm you stored them. They are your way in when the passkey and the app aren't available.
- 1
Copy or download the codes.
Use
CopyorDownload(it generates themovitera-recovery-codes.txtfile). Keep them away from your work computer — in a password manager or printed somewhere safe. - 2
Check `I have saved these codes in a secure place.` and click `Continue`.
The codes won't be shown again
Each code works a single time and the set is only displayed at this moment. If you lose all your factors and the codes, account recovery depends on support. To generate a new set, use Regenerate in your Profile — the old codes stop working.
Manage 2FA in your Profile
The "Two-factor authentication" card in Settings → Profile gathers everything:
Add this device— registers a passkey on the current device.- Viewing passkeys — for security, names and actions stay hidden until you click
Authenticate and show passkeysand confirm your second factor. Renameand the trash icon — rename or remove a passkey. The app blocks removing the last factor that doesn't depend on a device: "Keep TOTP or unused recovery codes before removing your last non-device factor."Set up authenticator— enables the authenticator app when there isn't one yet.Regenerate— generates new recovery codes and invalidates the old ones.
Disabling all 2FA is a drastic action
The Disable all 2FA button removes passkeys, authenticator app, and recovery codes at once — the account goes back to depending on the password alone, and sensitive actions stay blocked until you register everything again. The "Disable all two-factor methods?" dialog asks you to confirm with Disable everything.
