Fix Inventory issues
The most common Inventory issues and how to fix each one, from most to least frequent.
"A categoria é obrigatória" (Category is required) when creating the first asset
Cause: every asset needs a category, and a new team starts with none.
- Create a category in Categories and return to the form.
- Or, if the machine runs the Movitera Link agent, register the asset from the device — the flow offers to create the "Endpoints" category automatically.
Management buttons don't appear for you
Cause: your access is Usuário (User) — Gerenciador (Manager) actions (linking, revoking, importing, the risk policy, the Movitera Link settings) aren't shown to anyone else.
- Check what each level unlocks in Who can do what.
- Ask a team administrator to adjust
Acesso ao Inventário(Inventory access) in Settings → Members.
"Nenhum dispositivo conectado" (No device connected) or a device always "Nunca visto" (Never seen)
Cause: the Movitera Link agent wasn't installed or connected on the machine — or the machine has been off or offline since it was connected.
The import rejects the file or won't move forward
Cause: the file exceeds the limits, is in another format, or the match key was left unmapped.
- "O arquivo excede o limite de 5 MB." (the file exceeds the 5 MB limit) — split the spreadsheet; the limit is 5 MB and 1000 rows per import.
- "Formato não suportado. Envie um CSV ou XLSX." (unsupported format) — export the spreadsheet as CSV or XLSX.
- "A chave selecionada precisa estar mapeada." (the selected key must be mapped) — in the Mapping step, map the key's column (
Etiqueta (assetTag)orNúmero de série (serialNumber)). - Rows with errors are skipped during execution — use
Baixar erros (CSV)(Download errors) in the preview to fix them.
Duplicate assets after an import
Cause: the match key didn't match — if the spreadsheet identifies rows by serial number but the key was the tag (or the other way around), each row enters as a new asset.
- Re-import with the right key and the
Atualizar linhas duplicadas(Update duplicate rows) strategy to consolidate. - Or use
Reverter importação(Revert import) on the import's detail — it deletes the created assets and undoes the updates. The revert can't be undone.
"Essa etiqueta já está em uso. Escolha outra." (That tag is already in use)
Cause: an asset with that tag already exists — common when registering from a device whose hostname produces a repeated tag.
- Use
Personalizar etiqueta(Customize tag) in the registration dialog and enter another one. - If the asset with that tag is the same machine, don't register again: use
Vincular ativo existente…(Link existing asset) to tie the device to it.
The `Controle remoto` (Remote control) button doesn't appear, or "Sem permissão para controle remoto" (no remote control permission)
Cause: you lack Operador remoto (Remote operator) access — a scope separate from Inventory access.
- Ask an administrator to set
Controle remoto (Link)toOperador remoto(Remote operator) on your member profile.
"Controle remoto indisponível" (Remote control unavailable)
Cause: the device is offline, or remote control is disabled for the team — it's off by default.
- Confirm in the
Deviceslist that the device is online. - Ask a Manager to turn on
Permitir controle remoto dos dispositivos(Allow remote control of devices) in Movitera Link.
"Acesso recusado" (Access denied) or "Tempo esgotado" (Timed out) on a remote session
Cause: whoever is at the device declined the request, or nobody answered in 120 seconds — locked or unattended devices expire.
- Coordinate the access with the user first and use
Tentar novamente(Try again) orSolicitar novamente(Request again). - For machines with nobody around, consider
Permitir sessões não assistidas(Allow unattended sessions) in the Movitera Link settings — a sensitive, audited setting.
"Inventário de software desativado" (Software inventory disabled)
Cause: installed-app collection is opt-in and turned off — the devices' Software tab, the risks, and the license reports depend on it.
- Open
Movitera Linkin the Inventory navigation and turn onColetar inventário de aplicativos instalados(Collect installed app inventory). - The
Abrir configurações(Open settings) button on that screen currently leads to the Discovery page, not the settings — go straight through the navigation. - The first list appears after each agent's next submission ("Aguardando primeiro inventário de software" — waiting for the first software inventory).
Sub-locations and subcategories don't appear in the lists
Cause: the Locations and Categories lists show only the root level — the children exist, but aren't displayed there.
- Find them through the command palette search, which covers every level.
- They also appear in the location and category selectors on forms.
The seat bar went over the limit and there's no way to free seats
Cause: there are more assignments than seats on the license, and the interface currently doesn't allow removing assignments or editing the license.
- Record another
Ativa(Active) license for the same software with the additional seats — the Compliance tab adds up all active licenses per software. - Confirm the recipient before each assignment to avoid overflowing again.
Security signals show "Não medido" (Not measured) or "Desconhecido" (Unknown)
Cause: the agent hasn't collected that information yet, or the platform doesn't expose it — on Macs, TPM shows "Não esperado no macOS" (not expected on macOS). These are normal states, not errors.
- Wait for the agent's next inventory; the data appears once it's measured.
A device doesn't appear in Discovery
Cause: discovery is turned off, or no Movitera Link agent observes the device's subnet.
- Turn on
Descoberta ativada(Discovery enabled) in Movitera Link; for active subnet probing, use theAtivo(Active) orAmbos(Both) mode. - Confirm there's an agent on a machine in the same network.
- If the equipment won't get an agent, add it as an asset manually.
